What Makes a ‘Good Board’?

What makes a good and effective board? Having recently conducted a Board Review for an Australian publicly listed company, I was reflecting on what, if any, consistent themes are evident in those boards that appear to operate more effectively than others.

Leadership Lessons – from a 7-year-old!

One of the key descriptors of a ‘Leader’ is one who can create a vision, inspire others towards its achievement. He is expected to reach the goal in the quickest, most efficient, least expensive way, which has merit in many cases, but certainly has drawbacks, as I was shown this weekend by my 7-year-old daughter.

Top three reasons new CEO’s fail

This topic surfaced earlier this year in a client meeting where we were discussing the replacement of a CEO that had been in the organization for more than twenty years and in the CEO role for more than eight. Such concerns are shared by many organizations that are facing a change of tenured executive leadership.
